Calvin Klein
Born in Bronx, NY in 1942, Klein graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 1962. He then spent the next two years with Dan Millstein as an assistant designer. He worked for various coat and suit manufacturers from 1964 to 1968 before starting his own business.
During the 70′s, Calvin Klein gained recognition for the softly tailored, clean lines of his sportswear collection. In the late 70′s, Klein’s designs were far more sophisticated. His clothing is perfectly in keeping with the minimalist attitudes of the late 20th century.
Though Klein is an indisputable genius in marketing, he has not scrificed his essential metier as a designer. His clothing is as judicious as his marketing is advanced, which are apparent in streamlined patterns to be worn with ease. It takes a true designer of Klein’s caliber to be able to design mature and breathtaking minimalistic collections.
