Derek Lam
Born in San Francisco, CA in 1967, Lam’s parents owned a business where they would import clothes from Asia. In 1990, Lam graduated from Parson’s School of Design. In the 90′s he worked as an Assistant Designer for Michael Kors for five years.
He then moved to Hong Kong to work for a large Retail Brand. Once back in New York, he was appointed Vide President of Design at Michael Kors. Lam established his own label in 2002. In the following year, Lam’s first collection was introduced under his own name, which received positive reviews.
Lams vision for his collection is a classic American fashion. His signature is chic fabrics with clean silhouettes. He now works with Tod’s to create Ready-To-Wear.
