John Galliano

Born in Gibraltar in 1960, Galliano graduated from St. Martin’s School of Art, in London. During school, Galliano created a method of doing a sleeve by spiral cutting. He earned his first investor when he designed “Les Incroyables” in his last school year, which was sold to a London store that afterwards sold out.

Being on of the most original and innovative designer’s of the 20th century, Galliano prefers his designs to be historically based. He digs deep into history to find inspiration, then manipulates it to design breathtaking masterpieces. His unique interpretations have a defined theatrical look and his craftsmanship is thoroughly modern.

Galliano has become internationally renowned as one of Britain’s most exciting designers. He led the way in the mid 80′s with his historic designs. Every one of his designs is thought out to the last detail, producing a series of completely accessorized looks as he constantly strived for perfection. In 1995, Galliano was appointed as head designer for Givenchy’s couture and ready-to-wear collections, but left in 1996 to take over the house of Dior.
