
Kenneth Cole
Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1954, Cole studied law at Emory University in Atlanta Georgia. His father Charlie Cole, owned El Greco shoe manufacturing company.
After learning from his family business, Kenneth Cole established Kenneth Cole Productions in 1982. His first Women’s collection debut was in the year 2000. Cole uses fashion as a medium to promote socially conscious ads to help fight various causes from AIDS to homelessness. He has donated proceeds to such organizations as Mentoring USA, amfAR, and Rock the Vote.
Kenneth Cole’s sonscious advertising for the causes that he champions can be somewhat controversial but are always meant to stir positive change. In 2006, he announced that his label would stop selling fur in all their garments starting with his Fall 2007 Fashion Season.
