
Kenzo
Born in Kyoto, Japan in 1940, Kenzo Takada studied Art in Japan and designed patterns for a Tokyo Magazine after graduating. In 1964, he moved to Paris where he would design freelance collections and sell his designs to Louis Feraud during that decade. Kenzo opened his own shop inn 1970, which he called Jungle Jap.
His designs were popular in France. Kenzo’s early designs in cotton sold immediately. Kenzo became well established in 1972. He was first known for his bold designs which consisted in kabuki colors and ausbere shades. By implementing bold hues and new proportions into classic knitwear designs, Kenzo is known as the leading ready-to-wear knitwear designer.
Kenzo is also known for his multicultural and diverse aesthetics. He tends to carefully select cultural elements to create the perfect harmony. Since the 70′s, Kenzo has brought street initiative and global creativity to the fashion industry.
