Marc Jacobs

Born in New, York, NY in 1964, Jacobs had received a Perry Ellis Golden Thimble Award in 1984 for the creation of handknit sweaters in his collection in his last year in Parsons School of Design. In 1986, he designed his own label inspired by the 60′s. In 1988, he joined Perry Ellis where he was known for his youthful and whimsical design.

He began to design under his own name in 1994. His signature consists of sensuous fabrics like angora, cashmere and mohair. Jacobs introduced his secondary line, Marc by Marc Jacobs, with a spring 2001 runway show. He has gone on to win seven CFDA awards including Womenswear Designer of the Year, Accessories Designer of the Year and Menswear designer of the year. His design continues to mature over time. Jacob’s special interests include homages to designers he admires.

Marc Jacobs was from the start a fashion legend, a prodigy of mythical talent, tribulation, and triumph who attains unequivocal success and authority. Through a succession of labels and collections, Jacobs has consistently demonstrated a strong personal sensibility of the kind that marks clothing as timeless.
