Zac Posen
Born in New York, NY in 1980, Posen attended Saint Ann’s School. In his Sophomore year, he interned with Nicole Miller. In 1996, he enrolled in a pre-college program at Parsons The New School for Design. In 1989, he attended London’s Central St. Martin’s College of Art and Design at the University of the Arts in London.
While living in London, Posen found that the environment was copetitive, while at the same time students were given a wide berth for independent learning. In 2001, Posen constructed a gown entirely made from thin leather strips and dress-maker hooks and eyes that delivered a powerful commentary about the female figure. The gown is being featured in the Victoria and Albert Museum in their “Curvaceous” exhibition.
He has established himself as a rising designer thanks to the celebrity attention he has received in the red carpet. In 2008, Posen’s capsule collection created in collaboration with Target, Zac Posen for Target, was released in 75 stores in Australia.
