Rumor has it that the Tuleh label might soon shutter. The news comes after Tuleh canceled their fall 2010 runway show.

The reason that they may close shop is because Tuleh isn’t currently meeting the demands of its creditors. Trilea Holdings Inc, their former creditors, have reported that they have ceased to invest on Tuleh.

A Tuleh representative stated, “The business has been and continues to be unprofitable, and creditors were making demands that the company could not satisfy.” Though the investor’s demands haven’t been met, the consumers will ultimately suffer if Tuleh shutters due to the label’s popularity.

Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton has suffered declines in net profit and annual sales in 2009. Though the net sales fell one percent, or $23.48 billion dollars, LVMH insisted that the results were considered “the soundness of its strategy in 2009.”

The profit numbers had gone down eight percent at $2.78 billion dollars this past year. The sales decline came from their Wines & Spirits, Perfumes & Cosmetics, and Watches & Jewelry divisions. Where the company saw a profit was on their Fashion & Leather Goods division, which includes, Givenchy, Leowe, Louis Vuitton, and Marc Jacobs.

Though the results were mixed, what is apparent is the market’s stabilization. LVMH Chairman and CEO, Bernard Arnault stated, “Louis Vuitton in particular delivered another year of growth and has fortified its leading position.”

Saks has agreed to implement new faux-fur labeling as a result of an out of court settlement. Nearly a year ago, Saks and others had been sued for improperly mislabeling many of their faux-fur products.

Though the products were labeled as faux-fur, they actually contained raccoon-dog fur. Other companies that had been involved in similar lawsuits include, Lord & Taylor, Neiman Marcus, and Macy’s.

The result of the settlement will enforce Saks to be more careful about fur labeling and to endorse federal legislation to end the sale of fur-trimmed products that carry mislabeled faux-fur products.

The Armani house is accusing Christian Dior for being disrespectful. Because of Dior’s additional show, Armani will not be able to use certain models.

Dior has announced that there will be two shows instead of one. They are being scheduled for 2:30pm and 5:30pm. The show for 5:30pm was too close to Armani’s time slot, so Armani has rescheduled their show from 7:30pm to 9:00pm.

The worst part was that Dior made their changes in less than two weeks before the day of the haute couture runway shows.

In response to Armani’s rescheduling statement, Chambre president Grumbach stated, “The calendar looked perfect. But suddenly there was 5:30 show and that was too close to Armani’s original time slot. So, of course he was aggravated. But Signor Armani reacted very quickly and beautifully to change the timing. We really appreciate his efforts.”

In Dior’s defense, the 5:30 show had been unlisted because it was not meant for the press, but rather for VIPs and paying clients. Last year, Dior had set a similar schedule for their previous couture season. Though sparks may be flying, this incident may have just been a misunderstanding.

British label Burberry has won a counterfeit lawsuit versus Designer Imports. The settlement, which took place in the U.S District Court in Manhattan, awarded Burberry the sum of $1.5 Million dollars.

In 2005, Burberry had sued Designer Imports, an online retailer and importer, which led them to stop selling fakes. Initially, Burberry had been seeking $6.5 million dollars, but will receive $1.5 Million for damages instead.

The results of this lawsuit may encourage other labels to go after companies that encourage selling counterfeit goods, specially in New York.

Due to the continuing economic struggle in the fashion industry, Yohji Yamamoto has closed two stores. The stores that have shuttered are both located at New York City.

This may be the result of Yamamoto’s label filling for bankruptcy protection last October. The house had also closed their US press office last year. Though the label continues to have current difficulties, the Y-3 line with Adidas continues to be strong.

Marc Jacobs has gone retro with Louis Vuitton’s Pre-Fall collection and has taken us back to the Sixties. This collection really shines because of Marc Jacobs’ full interpretation of the collection as he attempts to replicate the Sixties’ look.

The silhouettes are both elegant and chic. Pieces of the collection include reverse tweed skirtsuits, a cape made from a vintage Vuitton blanket, and various beautifully crafted tweed coats and skirts. The light and dark grays with black trims really resonate the vintage look that Marc Jacobs was attempting to achieve.

Topshop’s collection for this Spring has elegantly blended urban edge with arcadian decor. This collection has been separated into two lineups titled ‘Downtown,’ ‘Saloon,’ ‘Meadow,’ and ‘Parisienne.’

The lineup varies from drop crotch trousers, menswear blazers, ankle socks, and trenchcoats, to floral prints, tiered lace, mohair cardigans, and trench coats. What brilliantly brings together this collection is rustic off-white and muted tones.

Designer Hussein Chalayan has recently bough back the majority stake of his own label. Due to financial issues, he had sold Chalayan to Puma in February 2008.

Hussein Chalayan will continue to oversee design, creation, and development in Puma as Puma’s Creative Director. Chalayan will now independently manage and have full control of his label without Puma’s aid.

London designer Mark Fast has announced plans to release a bridge collection called Faster. The collection will include nylon and elastane knits for this Spring.

The prices will range from $25 to $400 dollars compared to his Mark Fast pieces that go up to $2,400 dollars. The Faster collection will include leggings, tights, and a Mark Fast’s signature dress. It will be sold by Curve and Seven New York.
