Rumors had previously mentioned that Heidi Klum was launching a “pervasive lifestyle collection.” It is refreshing to know that she is taking this approach to enter the fashion industry.

Instead of just putting her name on the brand like other celebrities, she has meticulously chosen a demographic that needs more options.

Some of the top iconic fashion designers such as Karl Lagerfeld may not be replaced at all. It appears that labels are appointing creative teams rather than a head designer to take over, which is a strategy that Maison Martin Margiela just took.

In the past, it was common for houses to appoint head designers, just like Lagerfeld took over Chanel. Labels now fear that if they mention who may replace the head designer, this will automatically associate them with another name. This had previously happened when Tom Ford took over the house of Yves St. Laurent in 1999. Designer Yves St. Laurent had complained much about how Ford didn’t respect his vision.

We will see this trend in the next decades since designer legends like Giorgio Armani and Ralph Lauren will have to retire, and though that may be the case, they may never be replaced.

Edun was created by Ali Hewson and her husband Bono with the purpose of delivering a social message. Currently, the label create their garments made from organic cotton that is imported from Africa as an initiative to support 1,200 families that live in the region where the cotton is harvested.

The house has released their Pre-Fall collection with the backing of LVMH. Edun has received much help from LVMH creative and business teams. Hewson stated, “Without great clothes, we don’t have a business, so it’s important to get that end right.”

According to Coutorture, Alexander Wand and Sharon Wauchob have been approached to take over as creative director of Edun.
