Designer Martin Margiela Retires DESIGNER, LABEL, MAIN 12.09.09Written By Ben

Designer Martin Margiela has stepped down from the house he founded in 1988. The conceptual fashion designer is known for never being photographed and for his creatively artistic work. It looks that the label will be guided by their creative team and may be led by a lady member that has been working for the house for 19 years that will become head designer.

Though designer Martin Margiela has left his label, Diesel will continue to work with Maison Martin Margiela. Diesel had bough majority stake of Maison Martin Margiela in 2002. Previously, they closely had worked with the designer, but now will work with their creative team.

“It would have been very simple to hire someone else, and we evaluated that option, but in the end, what is important is the taste of designer.” Diesel also stated that the Maison Martin had simply decided to step down.
