Christian Lacroix Couture Fall 2009 DESIGNER, RUNWAY 07.13.09Written By Ben
In his last attempt to save his Couture house, Christian Lacroix pulled off his Fall Couture collection in the last minute with the help of his friends, as posted before. Seamstresses, Embroiderers, Milliners, and Models loyal to him donated their time and effort to help Lacroix. Though working on a budget, Lacroix once again demonstrated what an amazing eye he has for couture and the most trivial detail. One of his main focus was on the shape and wearability.
Using black and midnight blue as his canvas, Lacroix emphasized on dramatic silhouettes, asymmetrical draping, and finely executed decorative detail that consisted of gold and flower embellishments. He designed perfect little caped coats and coat dresses, as well as short bell-shaped skirts, and bunchy taffeta party dresses. As a dramatic finish, he presented a spanish-style mantilla, which demonstrated his craftsmanship and execution to the most detailed embellishment. Just as many in the show wore a badge “Christian Lacroix Forever,” we wish him the best.
